Meet Chevonne

My name is Chevonne and I’m a registered Transpersonal Art Therapist and Counsellor based in Northern Beaches, Sydney. I graduated in 2023, with an Advanced Diploma in Transpersonal Art Therapy and Counselling, from the College of Complementary Medicine. I hold ANZACATA membership and am committed to ongoing studies and professional development with the Sydney Centre of Creative Change.

My Role

As a Transpersonal Art Therapist and Counsellor, my role is to provide a safe space to support you on your authentic journey to explore inward. I’m here to share tools and techniques to assist you in deepening your connection to self, the natural environment and exploring your worldview.

Sessions are tailored in consultation with you during the first session and can be revisited at any point. As such, I believe in fostering a balanced therapeutic relationship that celebrates your strengths, explores your values and uncovers solutions that match your unique goals.

My Work

A few areas I particularly focus on are integration of change, processing grief, resilience building, tools for managing anxiety, stress, depression and different mental health concerns. I am particularly fond of eco therapy practices which invites connection with different aspects of the natural environment to improve mental and physical health.

Working with art modalities, creative expression, mindfulness, movement, rites of passage and ritual provide opportunities to access the implicit wisdom of the body and intuition for healing and transformation.

My Experience

I have facilitated a series of art therapy group programs including ages 6-12 and volunteered for intergenerational events in my community which has brought fruitful conversations about emotional regulation, awareness, socialisation and mental health. More recently I have been working in an Aged Care setting with ages 50+ centred around connection, relaxation and reminiscing.

Benefits

Art therapy is evidence-based in the positive and rewarding effects on giving individuals a space for relaxation, improving emotional regulation, reducing anxiety, and increasing social connection.

Art therapy has supported improved mental health outcomes for people who have experienced trauma, people with eating disorders, schizophrenia and dementia, as well as children with autism to name a few.
